Anika Vavić, piano
Thomas Rösner, conductor

Frédéric Chopin's piano music is unique in the canon. No other major composer has composed with such seemingly improvisational freedom while simultaneously prescribing every nuance for the performer. His Piano Concerto in F minor combines highly Romantic virtuosity with the Polish national rhythms that give his music its distinctive flair. The second movement is characterized by a poetic lyricism that few other composers have achieved. As the final work of this season, W. A. Mozart's last symphony provides a radiant finale: His 41st Symphony was named "Jupiter" because its untroubled spirit, Mozart's mastery, and its classical perfection were considered unsurpassed.
