1. Abo Konzert

Passion in Minor Key

26. February 2026, 19:30 - 21:30

Congress Center Baden, Kaiser Franz Ring 1, 2500 Baden

A. Dvořák: Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104
F. Mendelssohn Bartholdy: Symphony No. 3 in A minor, Op. 56 "Scottish"

Roland Lindenthal, cello
Thomas Rösner, conductor

With his Cello Concerto, Antonín Dvořák created a solo concerto for this instrument on par with the greatest violin concertos of the Romantic era, and it is still widely considered the pinnacle of cello concertos. Felix Mendelssohn often found inspiration in his travels. He felt a particular affinity for Scotland and Italy, as evidenced by some of his most important works. While the "Scottish" Symphony is not a program symphony, Scottish folk music, national myths, and the poetry of the mist-shrouded North have left audible traces in this Romantic masterpiece.

Pre-concert talk at 6:30 p.m. - Admission is free!
