The South is a symbol of sunshine and joie de vivre: Manuel de Falla, who would have celebrated his 150th birthday in 2026, left behind powerful melodies and rhythms that musically celebrate Spain's temperament. Audience favorite Karin Adam has chosen further masterpieces imbued with southern passion, including the virtuosic "Zigeunerweisen" and Ravel's "Tzigane."

Johann Strauss's waltzes "Wo die Zitronen blüh’n" and "Rosen aus dem Süden" are also a tribute to the longing for the "South." To conclude the Johann Strauss Year, we present a discovery: Argentinian composer Lucio Bruno-Videla has ingeniously arranged Strauss's sketches for solo harp and orchestra, which harpist Elisabeth Plank will premiere with us at this spirited start to the New Year!
