Subscription Series

This season we are putting masterpieces of the Viennese classics at the centre of our symphony concerts: we are playing the youthful, fresh and courageous first symphony, the epochal third piano concerto and the rarely played second version of the famous “Leonore Overture” of our namesake Ludwig van Beethoven. After many years we are again tackling Mozart’s “great G minor symphony”, which with its impetuous drama is always a challenge for us interpreters. Schubert’s unfinished E major symphony in the masterful version by Richard Dünser was such a great success at its first performance that we are putting it back on the programme to secure it a permanent place in the repertoire. Romanticism is prominently represented with the passionate string serenade by Tchaikovsky and the violin concerto by Mendelssohn. The Haydn Singing Competition in Rohrau has developed into an important talent factory in recent years. For the first time, we will be donating a prize and presenting you with the 2024 Beethoven Philharmonic Prize winner. This is another contribution to youth development, which is just as important to us as working with regional artists: We are delighted to be performing works by two successful Baden composers – Gabriele Proy and Robert Brunnlechner. With Christopher Hinterhuber, Nicolas Baldeyrou, Marysol Schalit and Ziyu He, we have been able to attract both young and established international soloists who will enrich our cycle and hopefully inspire you!
